Ciisii herba

Ciisii herba

Popular names: pinnated bodyak be scratched bodyak, kistochkovy bodyak, meadow bodyak, milkman.

Used parts: grass, leaves and roots.

Pharmacy name: grass bodyaka - Ciisii herba (formerly: Herba Cirsii), leaves bodyaka - Cirsii folium (formerly: Folia Cirsii), root bodyaka - Cirsii radix (formerly: Radix Cirsii).

Botanical description. Perennial, more than 1 m in height. At the top of the stalk develops closely packed inflorescence-baskets, which are surrounded by large pale yellow ovoid inherent leaves. Baskets willingly visited bees. But to feed livestock is a big plant with a hollow stem with a sticky covering his bases by their peristorassechennymi, prickly on the edge of leaves, few suitable and therefore not particularly desired in agriculture. Blossoms in August and September. Who once met with this plant, it is easy to recognize it at the meeting. As it often grows in wet meadows, on the ditch and river banks. Collection of the workpiece. Bodyak application is still very rare, even in traditional medicine. But the last time and again received the attention that the decoction of its root can treat rheumatism and gout. Thus, anyone who wants to take advantage of this plant, should dig a root in autumn, it is well to wash and dry quickly.

The active substances. As soon as a reservation, we still know very little about the active ingredients of this plant. Identified tannin, alkaloids, volatile oils, resins, fats, flavony and glycosides. Curative effect and use in folk medicine. As in medieval Travnik rare to find any information about the healing plants, and these data are contradictory, traditional medicine has refrained from using it. However, in some areas they use as a means of rheumatism and gout. As if no broths from its roots help alleviate pain and severe attacks. It is possible, although I have no confirmation of this through their own observations or scientific studies. Undoubtedly, this plant in the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, resins, and tanning agents may not be entirely devoid of any action. We can not ignore the fact that in some localities wise woman treated them toothache and convulsions, although even here there is no credible evidence. There is a need to examine the plant more thoroughly, and yet I am not encouraged to attempt to use it for self.

Adverse effects. Based on the information on the composition of the poisonous plants can be expected to act, as is known, however, still too little, so be wary of its long-term use.
