Arachidis oleum

Popular names: earth acorn, earth almond.

Pharmacy name: peanut butter - Arachidis oleum (formerly: Oleum Arachidis).

Botanical description. Annual herbaceous plant 30-70 cm in height, looks like a bean. After pollination buttons burrow into the soil to a depth of 5 cm, where the fruits ripen. Originally from Brazil, peanuts are now cultivated throughout the tropics and subtropics.
