Pharmacy name: rhizome Alpine - Galangae rhizoma (formerly: Rhizoma Galangae).

Botanical description. Homeland Alpine - plants, apparently very similar to ginger - Hainan Island and the peninsula Leychzhoubandao (China). There are growing this plant for Aptekarsky raw materials. This herbaceous perennial reaching a height of 1,5 m and a bearing arranged in two rows uzkolantsetnye, up to 30 cm in length, and very rarely exceeding 2 cm in width of leaves. White flowers are collected in 10-cm bunch at the top of the stalk.

Collecting and harvesting. Root, extending horizontally under the ground and abundant branching, digs already an adult, approximately 10-year-old plants. His cut to 5-8 (S)-cm pieces and dried in this manner.

Active substances: volatile oil, a substance with a sharp taste (galangol), bitter flavonov derivatives and evgenol.

Curative effect and application. Obtained from the Alpine medications have been successfully applied in the loss of appetite, lack of gastric juice, with little formation of enzymes in the gut and in the "fatigue" gallbladder. Alpine basically is a part of the stomach teas, but it was his task to perform alone.
